The Day the Stars Fell Closer

Mila loved to stare at the stars. Every night, she’d sit by her window and whisper, “Hello,” to the brightest one. She was sure it winked back.

One night, after her bedtime prayer, she whispered, “God, I wish I could touch a star.”

The room filled with a soft hum, and something small floated down like a glowing feather. It landed gently on her pillow  a tiny shimmer, no bigger than her thumb.

“Don’t be scared,” said the light. “I’m Lumie. I heard your prayer.”

Mila gasped. “You can talk?”

“Of course,” said Lumie, glowing proudly. “I’m a prayer-keeper. Every star you see is a prayer God has kept burning bright.”

Mila’s eyes widened. “Even mine?”

“Especially yours,” Lumie smiled. “You prayed for your grandma when she was sick. You prayed for your friend who was sad. You even prayed when you didn’t have words, those count too.”

All night, they talked. Lumie showed her how stars shone brighter when people trusted God, even when life felt dark. Mila learned that light wasn’t just in the sky,  it was in hearts that believed.

When morning came, Lumie began to fade. “Will I see you again?” Mila asked.

“You already do,” Lumie said, pointing to her heart. “Every time you choose kindness, every time you pray, you shine too.”

As the last sparkle disappeared, sunlight filled the room. Mila smiled. She didn’t need to touch a star anymore. She was one.

“Even the smallest light can chase away the darkest night.”
